Job Description
The ideal candidate should have experience preparing authentic Korean dishes, possess deep knowledge of traditional ingredients and cooking methods, and maintain high standards of hygiene and food presentation. The Korean Cook will be responsible for creating flavorful and visually appealing meals that represent the richness of Korean cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a wide variety of traditional and modern Korean dishes such as kimchi, bulgogi, bibimbap, samgyeopsal, japchae, jjigae, and Korean fried chicken.
- Ensure quality, consistency, and presentation of all food served.
- Assist in the planning and updating of Korean menu items, specials, and seasonal dishes.
- Monitor food stock and place orders as needed for Korean-specific ingredients.
- Maintain proper food storage, rotation, and labeling to minimize waste and maintain food safety.
- Follow and enforce kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards at all times.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team and assist in training junior staff on Korean cooking techniques.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report any malfunction or repair needs.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Korean Cook or similar role in a restaurant or hotel.
- Deep understanding of Korean cuisine, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Culinary certificate or diploma preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen cleanliness standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a Korean BBQ or specialty restaurant.
- Basic knowledge of English for communication within a multicultural team.
- Passion for Korean culture and cuisine.
