Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Indonesian Cook who specializes in preparing authentic Nasi Goreng and other Indonesian dishes using a wok. The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge of Indonesian flavors, ingredients, and traditional cooking techniques. This role requires expertise in wok cooking, the ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook authentic Nasi Goreng and other traditional Indonesian dishes using a wok.
  • Ensure consistent quality, flavor, and presentation of all dishes.
  • Create and maintain a well-balanced menu featuring Indonesian specialties.
  • Maintain optimal wok cooking techniques, ensuring high heat control for the perfect char and texture.
  • Manage kitchen mise en place, including chopping, marinating, and preparing sauces.
  • Monitor food inventory and communicate with the purchasing team to ensure ingredient availability.
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, and rotation of ingredients to maintain freshness.
  • Maintain cleanliness and comply with food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff in Indonesian cooking techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen and service team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adapt to customer preferences and dietary restrictions, making adjustments when necessary.
  • Innovate and suggest new Indonesian dishes for menu improvement.
  • Ensure efficient time management, especially during peak hours.
  • Handle kitchen equipment properly and report any maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Indonesian Cook or Wok Chef, specializing in Nasi Goreng.
  • Strong knowledge of Indonesian spices, sauces, and cooking techniques.
  • Experience in a professional kitchen or restaurant setting.
  • Ability to handle high heat wok cooking and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen management.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude.
